Forms

Hi! Welcome to my studio. Please review and sign the terms and conditions below. I look forward to working with you!

This policy has been updated as of August '22.

Music Lesson Agreement

As of Fall 2022, the studio with Rachel & her staff is open for both in-person and online lessons. Please let Rachel know what format you prefer.

Fall 2022 lessons begin on August 29 and end December 23.

All VIRTUAL lessons with Rachel are taught on Zoom at the following link:

Meeting ID: 772 348 9061   |    Password: rachelsand

I do have a waiting room enabled for lessons so feel free to try out the link at any time! I won't let you in until it's your lesson time.

Lessons with Rachel's staff have individual zoom links. You will receive the link via email along with your lesson confirmation.

Your Client Portal

All of my students are assigned to a client portal at fons.com. On Fons, you can view and edit your schedule, update your billing information/pay for lessons, and respond to notifications. Make sure you login and become familiar with your portal before starting lessons! If you need to contact me for any reason, please send me a message at rachelsandlermusic@gmail.com.

Practice

Students are expected to practice regularly at home. Consistent unpreparedness can result in termination of lessons by request of the teacher. Parents, please help your child develop a regular daily practice routine. Practice expectations will be voiced during each lesson. I do expect my students to practice all assigned material.

Instrumental students who show diligent practice habits will be permitted to supplement some method books with music of their choosing (popular songs, etc.) Please note that method books are an absolute necessity for student improvement. Emphasis should be put on that music in practice.

Scheduling

Together, we will schedule a consistent weekly lesson time, or you can choose to sign up for lessons at your convenience by purchasing a package of lessons. This time can be adjusted by request of the teacher or student up to 24 hours before the lesson. You can change your lesson time within the cancellation window using your Fons client portal.

For lessons with Rachel in Fall 2022, lessons will be scheduled on the following weeks ONLY:

August: 29

September: 5, 12, 19

October: 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

November: 7, 14, 21

December: 19

For lessons with Rachel’s team, you will receive a weekly lesson every week of the semester. The dates above do not apply.

Equipment

Piano students are expected to have an 88-key keyboard or piano for practice at home. I will recommend books and materials, but the student is responsible for all equipment costs. Bring these books and materials to every lesson.

Voice students are expected to have two copies of all assigned music for in person lessons(one copy for you and one copy for me!) While lessons are online, a PDF copy will work just fine. Please have a second device where you can access YouTube or other music streaming services while lessons are online. For printed music, music should be hole punched, double sided, and in a binder. Rachel can help you find free music online, but some books and sheets may need to be purchased. Please bring your own water to each lesson. You will also want a recording device for in person lessons (this could be your phone) so that you can refer to the lesson at a later time.

Voice students must have access to a piano/keyboard/app or YouTube for exercises and practice at home.

Voice students need to be mindful that they carry their instruments with them at all times. Avoid screaming and excessive vocal use, especially leading up to a lesson. Please discuss any vocal fatigue with Rachel to come up with a plan for proper voice care.

Instrumental students will need to bring their instrument for each lesson. Your teacher can help you to tune / maintain your instrument, and can also recommend a place to purchase one if necessary.

Cancellation Policy

Please give me 24 hours notice if you need to cancel. With 24 hours notice, you can schedule a makeup lesson using Fons. Please cancel any desired lessons in Fons to remove them from my calendar.

For Fall 2022, Rachel’s students will receive makeup lessons the week of January 2, unless there is an earlier opening. If you do not use your lessons by the week of January 2, they will be forfeited.

Students with Rachel’s staff can schedule their makeups throughout the semester.

Unless there is an emergency or extreme circumstance, you will be charged for / forfeit any lessons canceled after the 24 hour window. This includes any reason including but not limited to illness, car trouble, traffic, forgetfulness, vocal fatigue, caught up at work, etc.

If Rachel is not notified and you are a no-show, you will be charged / forfeit the full value of your lesson: no exceptions.

If you show up late to your lesson, you will miss out on that time. If you are more than 10 minutes late, the lesson will be forfeited with no refund. Email or text me if you are running late. Excessive lateness, late cancellations and/or not showing up can result in a termination of lessons.

Permanent termination of lessons must be done 30 days in advance, or you will be charged for the upcoming month.

Rachel’s weekly students for Fall 2022 must commit to the entire Fall Semester, which ends January 1.

Payment

All lessons are to be paid through your Fons client portal before your lesson begins. Please make sure your payment method is up to date, as payments are drafted automatically. Your payment method will be charged according to your subscription, package or one-time lesson.

Unless another arrangement has been made, monthly subscriptions auto draft on the 25th of the month.

All payments must be made directly through Fons to Rachel Sandler Music. Rachel's staff are not permitted to accept payments directly.

Once lessons are paid, there will be no refunds.
